The Simon Family Scholarship is for out-of-state, U.S. citizen or permanent residents who are first-time undergraduate students admitted to the College of Arts & Sciences. In addition to this criteria, applicants must meet the criteria below in order to be considered for the scholarship.
Simon Family Scholarship:
This $20,000 annual scholarship is awarded to one student in the incoming first-year class who
- demonstrates a record of academic excellence, acts as a leader in their community, and is actively involved in community service;
- demonstrates a high-level of financial need as determined through the FAFSA (must file by January, 6, 2023)
Selection Process and Renewal Criteria:
A small number of students will be invited to an on-campus visit to be interviewed by faculty and staff. The recipient for the scholarship will receive a $20,000 annual scholarship. The scholarship is renewable for up to 3 years beyond the first year (a total of 8 semesters or until you graduate, whichever comes first) provided a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and continued enrollment within the College of Arts & Sciences is maintained. Additionally, scholars are expected to make a significant contribution to the UVM campus or the Burlington community through their involvement in student clubs, community service organizations, and leadership roles.
Students who submit the scholarship application by the application deadline and file the FAFSA by January 6, 2023 for review on the application deadline will be considered for the Simon Family Scholarship.
The application for the 2023-24 year is closed. The application for the 2024-2025 year will open in November 2023.
