In the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, we believe that learning is by doing. As a student in CALS, you will have access to a rich array of internships, research experiences and courses that will take you out of the classroom and into the field, working in faculty research labs, local business, hospitals and veterinary clinics, government offices, on our farms, in the mountains or on the lake.
Welcome new students! Congratulations on your acceptance to UVM's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. We can't wait for you to join us.

Internships

CALS students spend thousands of hours gaining real-world experience through internships with businesses, nonprofits and government agencies in their communities, around Burlington or even abroad.
Undergraduate Research

Undergraduate research provides a unique opportunity to work alongside accomplished faculty mentors to gain practical experience in purpose-driven science and real-world application. CALS students work in faculty labs, applying the latest techniques in biochemistry, microbiology, and cell and molecular biology, in the field with environmentalists, agroecologists and geneticists, and with local partners to support projects in community development, public communication or nutrition.
